Education

The Education Services department is committed to developing an environment that promotes and supports the professional development of staff and students at Riverview Health Centre by encouraging creativity and innovation in an effort to improve organization wide performance.

E-Learning & Technology

Education Services has enhanced the learning opportunities at the Centre by introducing an electronic learning management system which enriches the existing education efforts by increasing access for staff and students.

The Centre is committed to improving computer access by offering 24 hour access to computers in the internet café and on site computer training. The Centre also has a large computer lab as well as an E-learning Centre that houses the virtual library and a number of computer terminals. Every new employee at the Centre is assigned a network computer account and as a result, a large number of electronic learning interactions occur every year.

The addition of TeleHealth Technology at the Centre allows staff and students to link to other sites for education and administrative purposes and allows Riverview patients and residents to be assessed by specialists and specialty teams from other facilities without having to incur the stress and inconvenience related to transportation.

Classroom Based Education

Education Services also offers a range of workshops, lectures and academic opportunities at the Centre. The Elder Care Interest Series is offered at the Centre and is designed for multidisciplinary team members who have a desire to expand their knowledge and skill in the care of older adults. They also offer programs for those who want to increase their knowledge in the area of rehabilitation practices.
