Family Update April 8, 2022

Storm Update:

Environment Canada has announced a storm warning for the city of Winnipeg and southern Manitoba.  The storm is anticipated to start Tuesday evening and last until Friday mid-day.  Snowfall accumulations are expected to be between 30-50 cm.  Northerly winds gusting to 70 km/hr. are expected, which will cause zero visibility due to snow and blowing snow.

Travel is anticipated to become increasingly difficult over the coming days. There may be disruptions to transit service, our visitor parking lot and side streets may not be cleared.  As there is a risk of becoming stranded, we encourage you to reconsider your visiting plans.  We are planning for sleeping accommodations for staff who may not be able to get home, and do not have enough sleeping accommodations for visitors. Please reach out to arrange virtual visits by iPad or phone calls.

COVID-19 Update:

      • Visitation is restricted until outbreak is stabilized
  • We are doing BID (twice a day) symptom monitoring because of close contact, on many of our units

  • To date we have had 167 staff who have tested positive for COVID-19, community acquired as well as staff who are recovering and returning to work
