On the day you arrive to make Riverview your home, you can go directly to the community that is expecting you. We receive information about you in advance, so you can be assured that we will be ready and waiting to welcome you. If you are not sure where to go, the clerk at the Information Centre can provide assistance.
People who need our services come to Riverview Health Centre because of coordination with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA). We collaborate with several regional programs to admit people who will benefit from the specialized care we provide.
Long Term Care
For Personal Care Home, Complex Respiratory Care and Alzheimers Centre of Excellence (ACE) units.
If a person is in a hospital and cannot return home, members of their care team and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority’s long-term care access centre team will determine their needs and the available options. This assessment is usually conducted by community care providers from home care and their doctor.
As space becomes available at Riverview, applications from the waiting list are sent to us by the access centre team. We work together with this team to ensure that Riverview is the best possible fit for each person welcomed into our community.

Palliative Care Community
Palliative Care
When a person has a life-limiting illness, their physician can refer them to the WRHA palliative care program. As part of the program’s range of palliative care services and as space becomes available at Riverview, members of the palliative care program team determine which people in their program require our specialized in-patient services.
Riverview Health Centre is part of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority rehab/geriatrics program coordinated entry system. This centralized process helps people access rehab services as quickly as possible. As space become available, Riverview receives candidate applications from this entry system.
