September 16, 2021 COVID-19 Update

September 16, 2021

Dear Families,

Updates

Mandatory vaccination: we are in the process of having our staff voluntarily declare their vaccine status in preparation for ensuring that we are compliant with having all staff fullyvaccinated by the end of October. For those staff who cannot be vaccinated, they will be required to be tested at minimum three times per week and have a negative test result each time. Logistics are being worked out and will be shared with sites.

Third (Booster) Dose vaccination: At this time, LTC residents will not be included in the plans for a third dose of the vaccine. Breakthrough cases remain very low (and we have no cases in residents/patients or staff).  We are planning our annual flu vaccine campaign for this fall.

Visiting: General visitors, please continue to book an appointment, a day ahead at minimum, at 204-478-6208, Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  You are also encouraged, to plan your visits i.e. book all your visits for the week in one phone call, where possible to reduce the need to leave a message or wait for a call back. Visits from children under 12 are still not recommended, as they haven’t had the opportunity to be vaccinated yet. Outdoor and POD visits continue to be the safest way to visit.  Note:  there are no POD visits on September 30th due to the National Truth & Reconciliation day stat.

Please continue to monitor for any signs of illness and do not come if you are even slightly ill.  Please call to cancel your booked visit.

A reminder that in health care settings, including Riverview Health Centre, masks and eye shields continue to be required, inside and outside.  Medical masks and eye protection will continue to be provided at the front entrance when you are screened.

If you are not yet fully vaccinated, we strongly encourage you to make an appointment. Please consider the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine not only for your own protection but also for the health and protection of your loved ones.

Thank you for your attention to the guidelines and for your ongoing support.  Be well.
