January 4, 2022 COVID-19 Update

5 January 2022

January 4, 2022

Dear Residents/Patients/Families,

Visitation: In order to reduce the risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus, we are limiting the Designated Family Caregivers/Essential Care Partners to one each per resident or patient, at a time.  While each resident/patient can have two DFC/ECP, only one is allowed for in-room visits at a time.

Outbreaks: We continue to have a COVID-19 outbreak on 4 West, the Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit at Riverview Health Centre. Three patients have tested positive. No staff have tested positive.

In addition, we continue to have an RSV outbreak on CD4 in our Personal Care Home.  There are now 9 residents who are positive and one swab taken today, pending results.

We do have a number of residents and patients who have been swabbed for COVID because of respiratory symptoms, and we are awaiting their test results.

Staffing: As of today, we now have a total of 26 staff members who are currently off work due to testing positive for COVID-19.  At this time, there is no evidence of any exposure in the workplace, and it seems that all of the cases were community acquired. There have also been 13 staff who have recovered and have been cleared to return to work.

Our staff will continue to do their very best, ensuring safety for all residents and patients.  Care may temporarily look different than what we are all used to for  awhile, as we manage through this latest challenge that the Omicron variant has thrown our way.

Once again, we thank you for your understanding at this very challenging time.

Be well.
