COVID-19 Update:• The number of cases in Winnipeg continue to grow.  We are working extremely hard to prevent illness and spread of COVID-19 within our facility, but we need your help.  DFC/ECPs YOU MUST ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWINGDo NOT visit if you have even mild symptoms (cough, runny nose, fever)Do NOT visit if you have a known close or household contact who is sick and/or has been tested for COVID-19 and/or tested positive for COVID-19Do NOT visit if you have been tested for COVID-19 and are awaiting test resultsDO NOT visit if you have a positive COVID-19 test resultDO call and let us know if you begin to experience symptoms (cough, runny nose, fever, loss of taste and/or smell) after you have visitedDO call and let us know if you receive a positive test resultDo call and let us know if you have been in close contact with a known positive COVID-19 caseDO arrange a virtual visit in place of in-person visits while you are isolating and waiting for test results and while your resident/patient family member is self-isolating while they wait for swab resultsDO have one DFC/ECP visit if you are well and will pass screening, at this timeDO wear your PPE correctly. MASK AND EYE PROTECTION MUST BE WORN WHILE VISITING, IN-ROOM ONLY AT THIS TIME, AND COMING AND GOING TO/FROM THE ENTRANCE.  Removing your mask even for a moment puts your resident/patient family member at risk.  Omicron is extremely contagious and even a brief period without your mask puts your family member at riskBreak rooms/cafeteria remain the highest risk environment.  Please ensure physical distancing and PPE removal for the minimum amount of time in the cafeteria– just while actually eating/drinking – and then replace promptly, with good hand hygiene

Outbreak(s) at RHC:• We have a new Outbreak of COVID-19 on CD3 in our PCHCurrently there are two residents who are positive, thirty-seven swabs came back negative, and 3residents who are symptomatic and awaiting test results.  These residents are all isolating in their rooms and are on enhanced droplet precautions to reduce the risk of spreadAll residents on CD3 have been swabbed for COVID-19 and all are having BID (twice a day) symptom monitoring CD3 is a red zone so no visitation can occur at this time• We continue to have one COVID-19 outbreak on 4NR -4West (declared Dec. 31st)o All 3 patients who are now recoveredo No staff have tested positive related to this outbreako With no changes, we anticipate that this outbreak will be declared over on Jan. 15th.o You will be notified when ECP visits can again occur• We continue to have an RSV outbreak on CD4 (declared Dec. 10th)o 12 residents have recovered and we had one resident death related to this outbreak.o With no changes, we anticipate that this outbreak can be declared over on Jan. 16tho You will be notified when DFC visits can again occur• We are doing BID (twice a day) symptom monitoring because of close contact on the majority of units throughout the building

Staffing:• We now have 60 staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 and 43 staff have been cleared to return to work
