COVID-19 Update:• The number of cases in Winnipeg continue to grow. We are working extremely hard to prevent illness and spread of COVID-19 within our facility, but we need your help.
Outbreak(s) at RHC:• We have a new outbreak declared today on CD4 in our Personal Care Homeo Currently there are 2 residents who have tested positiveo Residents on both the C and D sides will be swabbed, per Infection Prevention & Control (IP&C)o At this time there are no positive cases in staff linked to this outbreak and contact tracing is occurringo All residents on the C-side are on enhanced isolation precautionso All residents on the D-side are quarantined to their roomo BID (twice daily) symptom monitoring will continue; if residents develop new symptoms, a repeat NP swab will be doneo CD4 is closed to admissionso Visitation is restricted until swab results known and the outbreak is considered stabilizedo Staff are being cohorted to work just on one side as best as possibleo Residents are to wear procedure mask (if tolerated) when leaving room for essential purposes onlyo Enhanced cleaning of high touch areas is occurring at least twice daily and when visibly soiled o Staff going into rooms are to plan care/tasks to go from green to orange to red rooms (COVID-19 positive) last if possibleo Daily huddle with staff to review and reinforce IP&C measures is occurringo PPE education / on the spot correction continueso Increased PPE and Hand Hygiene audits continueo A PPE donning/doffing station has been created prior to going onto the units with signage in place• We continue to have an outbreak on 3E Palliative Careo There are 5 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, and 2 patients have died while COVID-19 positive• Our outbreak on CD3 in our PCH was declared over on Jan. 30tho The two residents have fully recovered• We are continuing to do BID (twice a day) symptom monitoring because of close contact on a number of units throughout the building
Staffing:• We continue to have staff who have tested positive for COVID-19, community acquired as well as staff who are recovering and returning to work
Vaccinations: • RHC is planning a vaccination clinic on Feb. 8th• The RBC Site at the Convention Centre is open again for walk-ins. Please get your 3rd dose (or 1st or 2nd dose) as soon as you can. Second dose for 5-11 yr. olds are also available.
DFC/ECP:• Due to the outbreak declared on CD4 in our PCH today, DFC visits are restricted at this time until swab results are known and the outbreak is considered stabilized• A reminder about the LTC Visitation Principles from Shared Health:o DFC/ECP may not eat or drink together with the resident/patiento DFC/ECP may eat/drink in the designated spots in the cafeteria, maintaining physical distancing, remove mask and eye protection carefully, including hand hygiene. After eating/drinking, perform hand hygiene and don mask and eye protection. Six feet/two metres must be maintained at any time PPE is removedo DFC/ECP once screened, are to go directly to the resident’s/patient’s room without prolonged interaction with otherso All visits are in-room only at this time
