February 11, 2021 COVID-19 Update11 February 2021
11 February 2021
We have been made aware today that a health care worker at Riverview Health Centre within our Personal Care Home Program has tested positive for COVID-19.
Public health, occupational health, and infection prevention and control are working together to investigate this case, and follow up on any identified close contacts. At this time, there is no evidence of any exposure and therefore we anticipate the risk is low. However, by definition a single positive staff case within the Long Term Care setting means that Riverview Health Centre must declare an outbreak.
At this time, no Residents or other RHC employees are exhibiting symptoms. As a precautionary measure, on February 12th Residents from the impacted unit will be tested for COVID-19. In addition, Nurses will perform symptom and temperature checks twice each day for the same group of Residents. We will continue to actively screen employees at the start of each shift.
At this time we will not be suspending designated family caregiver visitation.
We appreciate this is unsettling news for our Residents, Families and Staff of Riverview Health Centre. Please be assured that we have moved quickly to investigate this situation. The health of our patients, residents and employees is our top priority.
Further updates to follow. Thank you for your understanding.
