August 5, 2021 COVID-19 Update

6 August 2021

August 5, 2021

Dear Families,

Updated Public Health guidance, effective Aug. 7th, moves from focusing on restrictions to focusing on recommendations related to indoor public spaces and private businesses.  This includes a move to recommend the wearing of masks, rather than to require they be worn.

However, in health care settings, including Riverview Health Centre, masks continue to be required.

In health care environments, residents and patient are at a greater risk of severe illness from COVID-19. Masks will continue to be required – and must be worn – by all families, visitors and staff. Eye protection continues to be required to be worn by staff, and by visitors who are not able to maintain physical distancing.

Medical masks and eye protection will continue to be provided at the front entrance when you are screened. Masks are to be worn inside and outside when visiting or going for a walk, to help keep your family members and yourselves healthy as physical distancing isn’t always maintained and not all residents and patients can wear a mask.

As family designated caregivers/essential care partners and visitors in a health care setting, masks continue to be recommended as you interact in the community and with the public at large.

Outdoor and POD visits continue to be the safest way to visit.  General visitors, please continue to book an appointment, a day ahead at minimum, at 204-478-6208, Monday to Friday between 8:30 and 4:00.  Visits from children under 12 are still not recommended, as they haven’t had the opportunity to be vaccinated yet.

Please continue to monitor for any signs of illness and do not come if you are even slightly ill.  Please call to cancel your booked visit.

If you are not yet fully vaccinated, we strongly encourage you to make an appointment and note that some Supersites are accepting walk-in versus appointment bookings.  Pleaseconsider the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine not only for your own protection but also for the health and protection of your loved ones.

Thank you for your attention to the guidelines and for your ongoing support.

Be well.
