August 26, 2021 COVID-19 Update27 August 2021
Mandatory vaccination was announced this week by the province of Manitoba for staff who work in health care settings, including acute care and long-term care. This will include all staff who provide direct care as well as those who come in direct contact with patients/residents, as well as their care environments and their equipment. We will be working through logistics to ensure that staff are compliant and fully vaccinated by the end of October. For those staff who cannot be vaccinated, they will be required to be tested at minimum three times per week and have a negative test result each time. Logistics are being worked out and will be shared with sites.
Visiting hours have been extended to 8:00 p.m. daily. Outdoor and POD visits continue to be the safest way to visit. General visitors, please continue to book an appointment, a day ahead at minimum, at 204-478-6208, Monday to Friday between 8:30 and 4:00. Visits from children under 12 are still not recommended, as they haven’t had the opportunity to be vaccinated yet.
Please continue to monitor for any signs of illness and do not come if you are even slightly ill. Please call to cancel your booked visit.
A reminder that in health care settings, including Riverview Health Centre, masks and eye shields continue to be required. Medical masks and eye protection will continue to be provided at the front entrance when you are screened.
An indoor mask mandate is being added to the new Public Health orders. Please wear your mask and eye shield when visiting at Riverview Health Centre, inside as well as outside.
If you are not yet fully vaccinated, we strongly encourage you to make an appointment. Please consider the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine not only for your own protection but also for the health and protection of your loved ones.
Thank you for your attention to the guidelines and for your ongoing support.
